Effortless and effective polishing kit which comes with three 8" buffing mops - firm, medium and soft, two mounting arbors, and some polishing compounds. Gives a dazzling finish in double quick time. The mops are mounted onto the lathe in a scroll chuck using the large arbor, or alternatively, in a drill chuck using the small arbor. The mops screw on and off the arbors easily by hand. Instructions are supplied. It is used as follows
- The project is finished and a first coat of sealer and polish applied on the lathe
- The project is removed and the first mop mounted on the lathe
- A small amount of medium polishing compound (brown) is applied to the mop
- Burnish by hand
- The second mop is mounted and the fine compound (white) used in the same way
- The third mop is mounted and the final finish obtained with the carnauba wax.
There is a risk with drill chuck mounting that the morse taper may come loose. To prevent this it would be wise to bring up the tailstock and revolving centre to keep the drill chuck in. Better still, use our special drill chucks which on most lathes can be retained by a drawbar and nut, which passes through the lathe spindle. (See the drill chucks elsewhere in this shop)
