Good value Far Eastern chuck with British made arbor and drawbar
- 2mm to 13mm capacity
- No 2 Morse Taper 1/2 inch BSP Arbor has M6 female thread at small end to take the draw bar (see below)
- 200 mm Drawbar and special conical nut is included
The drawbar pulls the chuck hard back in the taper so prevents the taper spinning in the lathe and damaging your precious morse taper fittings. The drillchuck has a special threaded morse taper arbor which takes a threaded rod and conical shape nut. The threaded rod goes right through the lathe spindle and is secured by the nut so the chuck cannot slip out of the taper. As it is held in securely it is unlikely to slip round and score the surfaces. Also the chuck being secure can be used to grip small wooden objects for turning giving you a miniature woodturning chuck. Chuck plus key plus nut plus 200mm of threaded rod supplied for you to cut down to a suitable length.
Not suitable for lathes with no through-hole in the spindle - e.g. Record lathes.
Useful in the tailstock too unless your tailstock is the type with the barrel telescoping onto another threaded barrel. i.e. if the tailstock barrel effectively changes length as you operate it the drawbar will not work.
Drawbar available separately but will only fit drillchucks with a female M6 thread at the small end of the arbor.
Suitable arbors available separately (please ask) but will only fit drill chucks with a female B16 taper fitting or those with 1/2 inch BSP female thread. Arbors available in 1 or in 2 Morse Taper.
